COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The Axis of Stevil is an organization that understands what it takes to grow and be successful. A strong environment to work, live and learn is key to creative and spiritual growth. The Axis of Stevil takes pride in the fact that it supports and amplifies the voice of the everyday person who does in fact deserve to be heard. With that, the Axis of Stevil wants to get involved and spread the word of local community events.

POETRY SLAM!

Tipping the entertainment scale of the future.

Poetry Slams are not "new" by any means, other than the fact very few people in this great country have no clue what it is or what it is about. Well The Axis of Stevil is here to tell you dammit! For further information about the Poetry Slam! please visit:

http://poetryslam.axisofstevil.com

Poetry Slam! was born in Chicago Illinois in 1896, by a man by the name of Marc Smith. It was produced in an effort to try and encourage EVERYONE; bus drivers, police men, librarians, factory workers, etc. to participate in and experience poetry on a common level void of the serious, low-riding emo-tone previously associated with poetry.

Poetry Slams are poetry games shows in which "The points are not the point, the point is the poetry"1. Fun is also a huge factor in the success of a Poetry Slam. The event itself is setup in a three round game arrangement. During each round, every competitor is allowed three minutes to perform one of their original pieces of poetry. At the end of each performance a panel of judges (chosen from the audience) scores the performance on writing and delivery. All the olympic style scores are added for a round score of up to 30 points. At the end of the game prizes are awarded to a lot of different people for different things.

The entire event is a fun good time, with suprises around every corner. Please visit the website for more information.
